Praying for enemies

Sometimes there’s nothing you can do and you just have to pray. Praying for someone can melt your feelings off anger and hatred toward them. It’s in line with what Jesus wants for you. His word says to pray continually first Thessalonians five verse 17.

Here’s what Jesus said:

“You have heard that our ancestors were told, ‘You must not murder. If you commit murder, you are subject to judgment.’ But I say, if you are even angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the court. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell. Matthew 5:21-23

So God is telling me today to pray for the radical salvation of the person who physically abused me. I already forgave that person at a head level and now I need to go deeper and forgive at a heart level. This is true forgiveness.

Anyone that does not love, does not know God because God is love. 1 John 4:8

Maybe you think that you can never forgive that person who abused you, but if I can you can. Start with saying it out loud even if you don’t mean it from your heart yet and then ask God to help you mean it from your heart. Hate and love don’t get along. Hate doesn’t belong in you.

Forgive no matter what forgive. Forgiveness is beautiful and it makes you beautiful. It doesn’t let the person off the hook for the bad things that they’ve done, but it releases you and it breaks your chains.
