Christians and non-Christians alike are addicted to an evil box that brings into the home witchcraft, sexual immorality and anti-Christian propaganda. Snares many people for hours a day often keeping them from doing what they really should be doing and sometimes distracting them from God‘s plan for their life.
I don’t know if this slang term has died out but we used to call at the boob tube. Our parents would say watching too much TV will turn you into a boob – a mindless person. Turns out they were right!
Television is not what it used to be. I remember when married couples had to be in separate beds to be shown on TV. I remember when they had censors and they would bleep out mild profanity. I remember wholesome family values being the norm on TV.
Nowadays TV is not innocent. You can’t trust the content or the commercials to be seen by the windows to your souls – your eyes. The Bible says if your eyes are good you’ll be filled with light. Well the opposite is true too.
Woman or man of God how would your life change if you spent as much time watching sermons or listening to worship music or reading the Bible as you do watching entertainment or sports on TV? How would your life change if the amount of time you spent reading your Bible every day was exchanged for your Tv limit for the day? If it would radically change your life, do that!
I had some TV idols in my life which involved witchcraft, sensuality and I’m not proud of it. When I came to Christ in repentance, I went cold turkey. I don’t have TV service or subscription services other than Pureflix.
If you love God, repent. Keep your eyes holy and keep them fixed on Him. Can his still small voice speak to you if you are watching raunchy television content?
For some of you, sports may be your idol. You wouldn’t hesitate to spend an entire day watching team after team play your favorite sport, but when’s the last time you spent a day with God?
Jesus loves you so much. Make a date with him. Spend the whole day with him and ask him what needs to go in your life and how you can best serve him. He’s coming soon. Get ready!
