Sometimes people who don’t want to turn to Jesus for forgiveness and salvation will pose the question that is hard to answer: What about people who have never heard of Jesus? How is that fair? they may ask. No one will stand before God without having had many attempts to repent.
God IS just!
Therefore, the Lord has brought upon us the disaster he prepared. The Lord our God was right to do all of these things, for we did not obey him. Daniel 9:14
If God is perfectly just, we know intuitively that His justice will be perfect. So this is a weak excuse for not turning to Jesus. Parents often hear complaints from their kids that echo this isn’t fair. The children’s arguments seem pretty silly to the parents, and I imagine so do our complaints about this to our Heavenly Father.
Rescue those who are unjustly sentenced to die;
save them as they stagger to their death.
Don’t excuse yourself by saying, “Look, we didn’t know.”
For God understands all hearts, and he sees you.
He who guards your soul knows you knew.
He will repay all people as their actions deserve.Proverbs 24:11-12
In the end, when we appear in the courtroom of Heaven, our excuses will seem silly to us too. We will know that this verse is absolutely true and He is just in His judgment.
God speaks to us.
Ask for forgiveness and listen for His answer. Spoiler alert: it’s always yes. No matter how many times we mess up and break his heart, he is merciful. Jesus, our advocate in that Court of Heaven, speaks on our behalf.
But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. 1John 1:9
Ask, repent and live for Jesus. It’s the best decision and the most important decision you’ll ever make.
If you are already a believer, the days are short. Our Lord could return any day now and he wants us to make the most of this time. Sow! Plant seeds of God’s word. Perhaps you won’t be the one to reap the harvest, but sow that seed anyways and pray for the Lord of the harvest to do His wonderful work.
How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger who brings good news, the good news of peace and salvation, the news that the God of Israel reigns! Isaiah 52:7 Spreading God's Word makes you beautiful! The world doesn't see it that way, but Jesus does. Sow away! Don't be scared. If you can't do it in person because of Covid, use the phone, Zoom or the internet to sow.
Good word from the Word.
