We should look Jesus.
We all have our causes we believe strongly about and that we like to support. Sometimes we give of our time so that clause and sometimes we give our money. As we grow in Christ, our life should look more Jesus. We have the heart of our father and His Spirit dwells within us so our actions will naturally line up with His character.
WWJD?
Well let’s take a quick deep dive into the things that He did:
- Fed the hungry
- Went out of His way to meet someone in a dangerous neighborhood
- Fasted when He prayed for days (seriously the church NEEDS this)
- Upset religious people with His radical teachings
- Healed people (not prayed for them to get better)
- Raised people from the dead
- Regularly went off alone to spend time with the Father
- Overturned the tables of merchants at the temple
- Made disciples
- Spent a lot of time teaching the Scriptures
- Avoided political discussions and didn’t identify with a political group
- Paid His taxes
- Performed miracles
- Invested time into people
- Delayed going places until the time was right
- Called people bad names (it’s on the table!)
- Focused on people who were rejected by society
- Showed mercy
- Purposely brought people who didn’t get along with each other together to live and work together to teach them the iron sharpens iron principle
- Pointed people to God
- Suffered for people
I don’t know about you, but I fall miserably short of all that He did. Even as I was dictating these into my phone I felt conviction. Being like Him is the goal.
Prayer:
Lord, please change me to be like you. Don’t stop. Continue the work in me. Burn off all the dross until all you have left is pure gold. Make me a light in a dark world.
