You dirty sheep!

Are you a good person? Most of us think we are good people. Some will even say I’m a great person. We like to compare ourselves to others and think yeah I’m a lot better than him or her. It’s uncomfortable to think that we might not be a good person. When we stand before God those other people aren’t going to be around us and we’re not going to be measured on how we look according to those people; we will stand alone unless we have an advocate.

Who do we measure ourselves against?

Jesus is the standard. When we compare ourselves to Him, we fail miserably on the good person test. Going to church, reading the Bible and praying are good activities to do, but they don’t justify your with God. Those activities don’t cleanse sin.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God Romans 3:23

If we look out in a green pasture, we may see some white sheep. If someone were to ask you hey what color are those sheep? You would answer they are white. Say it snows and the ground is covered with fresh white snow, now you see the sheep aren’t as white as you thought. They look kind of grungy.

We look kind of grungy too when we compare ourselves to Jesus. We’ve lied, we have basically broken all the commandments in thought or in deed. We’re not as good as we think. Compared to a holy God, we really aren’t good people. That is where grace comes in.

We are all infected and impure with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags. Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall, and our sins sweep us away like the wind. Isaiah 64:6

The good news is Jesus has paid our sin debt. Ask Him to forgive your sin and follow Him. He will stand as your advocate. You can face fair judgement or find forgiveness in Jesus. We all think we have time to ponder such things, but we never know when a blood clot, Covid or an automobile accident could end this life.

If you’re not in a place where you have already asked Jesus to forgive your sins, you’re in a dangerous place. You’re one breath away from facing fair judgment. Judgment is fair; it’s what a kind and just God does. Don’t be thinking, that you can go into eternity without a savior; that won’t work well for anyone.

Reach out to him today to be part of the “bride” He is coming back for!

He’s coming back really soon to claim His bride. He wants a personal relationship with you. He is calling you with a love so deep even if you can’t see it yet. He promises to scoop you up with Him. Reach out to Him. Spoiler alert: He’ll say yes. He does want you.
