Back in the Old Testament days, God’s people heard from him through Moses. Moses heard the voice of God through various ways; we all know about the burning bush. When they left Mount Sinai he heard it a different way.
When Moses entered the Tent of Meeting to speak with the LORD, he heard the voice speaking to him from between the two cherubim above the mercy seat on the ark of the Testimony. Thus the LORD spoke to him. Numbers 7:89
This really long chapter goes on and on about how the people of Israel gave their gifts to God and they are recorded here because they are recorded in heaven. God doesn’t forget the gift you to give him. Each is a blessing counted to you in Heaven. Every father loves a gift from his child. Your heavenly father doesn’t forget your gifts.
After all those gifts were given then Moses went in and heard the voice of the LORD. (All capital letters=YHWH in Hebrew. )
We have the inaudible voice of the Holy Spirit to guide us. We have three voices inside our head battling for control: The voice of God, the voice of the enemy and our own self. How do we know when we’re hearing the voice of God? Let’s talk about not hearing the voice of God first.
Don’t expect to hear from God if you’re in direct disobedience. Obey what he’s told you to do. If you’re in disobedience it’s harder to hear him. Sometimes we are thinking we can have our cake and eat it too. That’s not the case. We can’t live how we please because it’s convenient for us. Get the piece of paper and don’t shack up – it’s important to God. You blow your testimony by your disobedience,
At this point you may be tempted to Unfollow me, but know that you can’t unfollow God. He will pursue you relentlessly so just give into him and bow to his will. He loves you more than that person does – his love is infinite and unconditional.
God may tell you things that are difficult to hear. Correction is a sign he loves you. I struggle with something that’s the opposite of one of the fruit of the spirit so a voice talking to me about that is how God admonishes me. God will tell you in action is bad but the enemy will say you are bad!
Number one way to hear from God is read His word. A verse can pop out so strongly that you know it’s for you.
God may tell you to give to someone that you don’t normally give to. When you give to that person you feel an overwhelming peace, and you know it’s from God.
Sometimes the voice of God will prompt us to call someone that we haven’t talked to in a while. It’s either to bless us or bless them usually. Sometimes it’s to make us aware of the need to pray for that person. When you call them you find out that their life is totally falling apart and so you can pray for them.
Sometimes the voice of God prompts us not to do things. It’s like a warning for us. I’m ashamed to say I haven’t always obeyed that prompting. It’s usually for our own good, but sometimes it’s just not the right thing in that situation.
Bless ministries that bless Israel and see how you hear from him.
God loves you dear friend and wants to have fellowship with you. Give him quantity time, obey Him and give to Him.
