I just finished reading From Megachurch to Multiplication by Chris Galanos last week. It’s quite an eye-opener. I hope that you can pick up a copy.
Some of the things that the author talks about in this book run counter to what the American church does and it explains why the American church is failing. Things have to change. We have to change. Not everyone wants to change but if we want to reach this world for the Lord it’s something we have to do.
We can no longer check off our church responsibility with an hour on Sunday morning and 15 minutes per day. That kind of commitment is not going to start a revival here. Is that really living for Christ? How would your girlfriend feel if you only spent 15 minutes a day with her and on Sunday an hour?
DMM (Disciple making movement) is taking the church out of church and putting it into homes or in this Covid world on zoom. It’s simple church. The Bible is your textbook and you just have a list of seven questions that you ask about it. Chris Galanos tells you how to get started but it’s really simple.
Pray like crazy.
We have to pray. First we have to learn how to pray. Most people get antsy after 10 minutes of praying. What’s it going to take for us to win the USA to Jesus? It’s going to take powerful commitment to God and prayer.
I’m no expert on church growth but the author of this book is. He believes that we need to utilize methods that the mission field uses right here which means we may need to be mentored by people outside of the states. The mission field utilizes small group Bible studies.
I totally recommend picking up a copy of this book for your pastor, but it will also change your life personally.
