Trust the Science!

Yeah, I’ll pass. I’m a science girl. I started reading scientific American when I was a preteen. One of my favorite childhood Christmas presents was a chemistry set. I use the scientific method in my job.

We’re hearing trust the science a lot these days but let me remind you what scientists have pushed in the past.

Science has often been and will continue to be wrong.

Me
  • Coca Cola for the stomach
  • Shock therapy
  • Mercury as a cure all
  • Animal dung ointments
  • Blood letting
  • Meth medicine

And they make mistakes: Flat earth and earth centered universe being examples.

Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight. -Isaiah 5:21

We think with 2021 minds looking back to 1800 and think we are hot stuff intellectually. If the Lord tarries and we make it to 2200, what would they say about chemotherapy? What will they say about the overuse of antibiotics? Will they call 21st-century physicians drug dealers?

We’re not as smart as we think. There’s many things that we don’t know and we’ll never know. We, as a species, have accomplished some spectacular achievements, but even the rocket scientist I knew personally didn’t know everything. He was smart, but he was also smart in the right way – he trusted in Jesus.

Friends, don’t harass your unvaccinated friends and relatives. Science isn’t perfect and usually it takes time for scientists to get it right. They rarely get anything right the first time allow them to wait and see if the general population test group has long term side effects from the vaccine. Be nice. Nice is cool.

Be nice!

I’m a child of God who has found joy and peace in Jesus, the King of the universe. He alone is worthy of all praise and glory. I’m a bivocational pastor and vegan who crochets and talks all things Jesus.
