When I was a little girl, I used to go fishing on the Erie Canal. Times were simple. I had a bamboo pole, a red and white plastic bobber, and a homemade metal sinker.
We would get up to arrive in the early morning feeding time. Usually the metal bucket was half full when I came home but I always caught the most fish even though I didn’t eat them. Our method was simple simple but successful. My mama grew up country and knew how to do many things.
Nowadays I still don’t eat fish or any animal for that matter. I just go fishing for men and women. Fishing for men is an art and the catch has eternal consequences. Sometimes the fish don’t bite and you have to move on just like you have to change up where you fish.
We have become so comfortable with not sharing the gospel. We don’t want to offend people. We’ve been duped into the PC mentality and we are robbing His kingdom of a harvest.
If you were on a cruise and someone fell overboard, would you throw a life preserver or would you say, “Oh, I don’t want to offend you,” and go on your way? Of course not! The boat is too tall for anyone to save themselves. It’s the same thing. Jesus is the lifesaver ring for a world can’t save itself. We are in sin over our head and we needed someone to share with us the Word of God.
Stop caring. Don’t care if people are offended when you share the gospel with them. Their sin (and our own) is a huge problem for a holy God. The word of God has the power to save them and us too.
Sow. Fish. Share like their life depends on it… because it does. The great white throne of judgment will happen for unbelievers. Please, Christian, stop thinking about how someone might be offended and start thinking about how someone might be sentenced to eternal separation from God.
You may have unbelieving friends you’ve never shared the gospel with. What are you waiting for? An auto accident, a cancer diagnosis, or COVID-19 could separate you from your friend forever. Plant the seed of the word of God into their life and mind so that when they need it, it will be there. If Jesus is the most important thing in your life, why are you with holding Him from your best friends? That is not what a good friend does. A good friend offers hope for the future!
