I recently bought a veggie wrap and a bag of Lays potato chips. I always liked Lays potato chips when choosing a late night snack. I’ve been trying to be healthier, though, and hadn’t purchased these for quite some time. I didn’t enjoy them this time. I found that all I could taste was salt and I felt uncomfortable the rest of the afternoon because of the amount of salt in them. How is it something I liked so much would become distasteful to me?
People change. People can change some things about themselves, but God can transform a person totally.
Once, I liked sin. I was comfortable with it. I liked drinking away my pain rather than dealing with issues. I liked things that weren’t good for me and sin didn’t satisfy the soul. A lack of contentment with life is why a lot of people reach out to God. I guess that’s why I did. Everything went wrong in my life and I knew I needed God.
Some people don’t want to give up their sin and use it as an excuse to follow God, but do you never can out-give God. If you give up something for God, He always replaces it with something better.
Maybe you can’t relate. Your life is good and you don’t need anything from God. You will some day. If not in this life, at the end of your life you will need mercy. Think about how many commandments you have broken. How many times have you made mistakes? We have all failed to live a holy and righteous life, and that’s a big problem for us. We can do nothing to earn God’s forgiveness, but God is rich in mercy and offers it to you today. Respond to Him while the offer of forgiveness is available. He is merciful, but He’s also just and has to punish sin.
God came to this earth in human form and became a sacrifice for sin. It is a free gift. Good works will not balance out bad works. The only thing that you can use as a payment for your sin is the blood of Jesus Christ. Transfer your trust in your good works to a trust in His atoning blood.
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:9
Ask God for forgiveness for your sin. Confess with your mouth. If you do that His spirit will dwell within you and give you the power to live a life that pleases God. Please reach out to me if you do this today!
