Transubstantiation is Hogwash

Roman Catholics say that the bread and the wine become the literal body and blood of Christ. This is called transubstantiation and it is hogwash. There’s no magic that happens when the wafer is blessed by a priest. If there were, magic is not of God, so there’s a problem.

Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:53‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Jesus either meant this literally or figuratively. Since it’s against Judaism to consume blood or to be a cannibal, we have to conclude that he meant it figuratively. If he meant it figuratively, then the case for transubstantiation evaporates.

The Catholic Church is called Roman Catholic because it was birthed in the sixth century Roman Empire. Rome’s influence on the Catholic Church was great. The worship of Mary that goes on goes back to the pagan ideas of Rome and its mother worship. Her perpetual virginity is a problem. History records that He had siblings.

Infant baptism is also a problem, since a baby can’t repent. It’s not the baby’s choice to follow Jesus. Purgatory is also a problem. The whole idea of purgatory goes against the concept of grace. We are saved by grace, not by putting in years in purgatory and then getting out.

Catholic theology is a hot mess. I’m sure Catholics can get saved in spite of their bad theology, but I also know that Jesus said to enter through the narrow gate. If we say that everybody (in all religions) has a shot at being saved, that’s not a narrow gate. Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses have a different idea of Jesus and a different gospel, and it’s easy to see they don’t have an understanding of God or a saving manor. It becomes harder with Catholics, who believe in the Trinity, but pervert everything about Christianity. I’m glad I’m not their judge and He is. Until God tells me otherwise, I see Catholics as fair game for evangelistic efforts.

I’m a child of God who has found joy and peace in Jesus, the King of the universe. He alone is worthy of all praise and glory. I’m a bivocational pastor and vegan who crochets and talks all things Jesus.
