My church operates on the DMM, disciple making movement. Every week we meet in small groups in a home, restaurant, or on zoom, depending on where we live. The disciple making movement is a mission field strategy and is highly effective and reproducible.
Here is how it works: there are seven questions that you base the lesson on and then there’s a scripture passage. You read the Bible, discuss it, and pray. You don’t need Sunday school materials because the Bible is your textbook. You just need a notebook and a pen or pencil to write things down. This exploratory time of fellowship is not only educational, it is a wonderful time bonding with fellow believers and, at the same time, welcoming new believers or people who are not yet believers.
The disciple making movement is based on the principle that we do like Jesus did, go and tell the good news, as opposed to the usual church model of come and see. Apparently people aren’t as eager to come and see as they used to be, so we have to use the go and tell if we want to reach people for Christ. Home churches have gained popularity in my country, the United States.
It is easy to start a Lighthouse wherever you are. All you need is the list of questions. There are seven of them and the Bible passages list. If you would like to start a lighthouse please fill out the contact form on the contact page and I’ll help you get started with starting a lighthouse.
This DMM model also focuses on putting into practice what you have learned. It’s more beneficial to apply the word of God to your life instead of just read it and forget it.
Please contact me at your convenience if you would like to start a lighthouse in your area. You do not have to be in the United States you can start a lighthouse in whatever country you are in. I look forward to helping you start a Lighthouse in your area!
