There are over 51 million Roman Catholics in the United States. Well I’m sure there are people in the Roman Catholic Church who are destined for heaven, but the vast majority of Roman Catholics are idolaters. Here’s why:
- Veneration of saints and angels.
- Veneration of the clergy.
- Veneration of statues.
- Use of talismans.
- Lighting of candles as a prayer.
Any one of these will seal the deal on a ticket to Hell as an idolater. Let’s tackle them one by one.
i•dol•a•try (aɪˈdɒl ə tri)
n., pl. -tries.
- the religious worship of idols.
- excessive admiration or devotion.
(Praying to is ascribing divine power) There is only one mediator to God – Jesus.
Veneration of the clergy is also an abomination to God. There’s only one holy Father and He is in heaven. To kiss the pope’s ring is bowing down to an idol. Only God the Father can forgive sins because all men fall short.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23
When Roman Catholics enter church they bow to a plaster Jesus. That’s an idol. All these Mary statues are idols too. Praying to Mary, saints, or angels is spiritism.
Spiritism is the practice of the belief or doctrine that the spirits of the dead, surviving after the mortal life, can and do communicate with the living, especially through a person (a medium) particularly susceptible to their influence. Praying to saints is a SIN. It makes you the medium.
The use of rosaries and religious medals are basically talismans and are not godly. They’re religious idols that give false hope of salvation.
Lighting a candle to get God’s attention to answer your prayer is no better than the Buddhist clapping to get Buddha’s attention for their prayer. It’s all idolatry.
Revelation 17 talks about Babylon. False religion and Roman Catholicism is right in there with Islam, Hinduism, and all the rest. They all give a false hope of salvation. These people will get left behind during the rapture.
There may be a few that get caught up with us in the air but, rest assured, those people have a personal relationship with God. Church membership doesn’t equal kingdom membership. A relationship with Jesus is what gets you into the kingdom of God.
Jesus is the all-sufficient mediator between man and God. We don’t need anything else to reach God the Father just our relationship with Jesus Christ.
The first church was not the Catholic Church. The first church was in Acts chapter 1. It was the upper room where the apostles prayed. And they weren’t worshiping Mary by praying to her because Mary was a human grieving mother.
Peter was the leader of that church but he didn’t want any veneration either. He went to see a Roman centurion and this is what happened in Acts 10:
24The following day he arrived in Caesarea, where Cornelius was expecting them and had called together his relatives and close friends. 25As Peter was about to enter, Cornelius met him and fell at his feet to worship him. 26But Peter helped him up. “Stand up,” he said, “I am only a man myself.”
Peter himself stated this clearly: I’m just a man. He told Cornelius to stand up. Peter doesn’t want your prayers Catholics. God and God alone should be the center of our worship and prayer.
