Part of the ministry of Jesus was deliverance. Part of the ministry of the apostles was deliverance. Your church ministry should include deliverance too. Demons have not disappeared off the face of the earth. They are quite active in these last days.
If you had told me 50 years ago what the world would be like today, not only would I not believe you, it would’ve scared me. It’s no secret that this world is controlled by demonic forces. People listen to the wrong voice and they do bad things. Sometimes people end up dead because of that.
Some people believe that Christians can’t have demons. They can. Your temple is like a house and can get invaded by pests. When you get saved Jesus, didn’t clean everything up in your life. Some things have to be worked through. Sometimes the thing that you have to work through is under control of a demon and the demon doesn’t want to leave and needs to be booted out.
If your church isn’t doing deliverance, it should be. People listen to the wrong voice and they mistakenly follow the voice. Even if your church isn’t doing deliverance, you can. You can also teach others how to do it. Watch reputable deliverance ministers (Isaiah Saldivar and Alexander Pagani are not flashy like the fake ones are.) If they’re charging money for deliverance, that’s a clue you need to stay away from them. Deliverance is a ministry not a business.
Christian, you have the scripture authority to do deliverance to both others and yourself. Get some experience with this because people need it. I prefer to do deliverance on only Christians because of Luke 11:26. After we do deliverance, we pray for the Holy Spirit to fill the person and that part of their life that was left vacant. With a non-Christian we can’t do that.
The steps on casting out demons are this: 1) bind the demon 2) break association (this is legal association in the courts of heaven) 3) cast it out and 4) ask the Holy Spirit to fill the person.
Even you can do this process on yourself if you are a Christian. Call the demon by name: rage, anger, suicide, depression, hate, self-pity or whatever the Holy Spirit reveals to you is the root problem. Demons have names but they are also known by their function in your life.
Example: I bind the spirit of suicide and break association with it. I cast it out in the name of Jesus. Holy Spirit please fill that void with your love and presence.
Sometimes it takes prayer and fasting to cast a demon out. I would suggest that you pray and fast before the first time you do it and to not be alone, to have a backup believer with you. I didn’t do that and had a great experience, but an elder sister in the Lord suggested that it is ideal. Sometimes the demon will manifest with laughter. Just continue and quote Scripture. Sometimes they distract by making the person think they are ill.
Often demons are passed down through families. That’s why families struggle with the same thing like alcoholism, suicides, and adultery. Those bonds have to be broken so the future generations can be free.
Freedom from demonic control in your own life is the first step. After you have broken all those bonds in your own life, you can start helping others. It usually takes more than one session to get completely free.
The Holy Spirit may prompt you to get rid of some things that may be attracting or keeping demons in your life. For me, it was dream catchers, yoga stuff, and other things. I have less stuff to dust and a better relationship with Jesus than I’ve ever had, and now I help others.
