Shoes of Peace

15For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.e

Ephesians 6

If you’re like most people, you don’t want to go to school, work, or other places without shoes! Shoes protect our feet from injuries and from sharp things that could cause us to bleed. The shoes of peace serve that function in our spiritual life. As we endeavor to live peaceably with men, we are protected by the shoes of peace.

32 It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure.33 He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights.34 He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze.35 You make your saving help my shield, and your right hand sustains me; your help has made me great.36 You provide a broad path for my feet, so that my ankles do not give way.

Psalm 18

Spiritual warfare can get nasty. It can get personal. The shoes of peace help protect us. We put these on when we submit to another in love and reverence. When we are easily offended, it’s like we are throwing our shoes at someone across the room. The spirit of offense hinders many a Christian walk.

Everyone is offended by something or another. if you are not offended by something, it means you don’t stand for anything. So instead of making a big thing about being offended, the church needs to learn to have an attitude of service towards people. People with hearts of servants are so beautiful inside. You don’t hear them say that they’re offended, but rather ask how they can help.

In contrast, the feet of people who are bringing peace and salvation are a welcome sight to the spiritually needy. Telling people about his salvation can bring us great peace personally.

How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger who brings good news, the good news of peace and salvation, the news that the God of Israel reigns!

Isaiah 52:7

Ask yourself if you a peace bringer or do people have to walk on egg shells around you?
