Subjugation vs Submission

1Likewise, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives,

1 Peter 3:1

Submission to husbands is a controversial topic. First let’s talk about what submission is not. It is not forced by the husband. The husband cannot say you must do this; that is subjugation let’s take a look the definition for that.

  1. to bring under complete control or subjection; conquer; master.
  2. to make submissive or subservient; enslave.

What submission is: it’s following voluntarily the leadership and guidance of the husband. This is a spiritual act which isn’t about power and manipulation. Boundaries should not be crossed. At no time should you feel disrespected by your husband! There’s a difference between manipulation and love.
