When you come to Christ you’re changing little by little into his likeness. It’s like peeling off the layers of an onion. The old man comes off so that the new man can emerge.
Sometimes we have to be delivered from our ties of our old life. Sometimes deliverance is easy and sometimes it’s not. But when God says you’re free, He really meant that you are free!
36So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
John 8:32
God is so good and faithful to free us from bondage. He wants us to live and walk in freedom. He doesn’t want us to be comfortable in our old filthy rags when he’s already tailored a new suit for us.
Imagine going to a foreign country where they have a king. He’s wearing a royal robe and a crown. Then his kids come out and they’re wearing dirty torn clothing. It wouldn’t seem right would it?
You, child of God, put off the old and put on the new. The old isn’t becoming of a child of God. Rejection and shame don’t suit you; Grace and glory are more your style!
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and prove what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:2
The word of God has the power to renew your mind and transform you, but it can’t do that if the Holy Bible isn’t opened up. Devour it like it was your last meal!
