I am madly in love with the Holy Spirit. He tells me the feeling is mutual. When you follow Jesus you are never without that person who loves you most.
I want to give the Holy Spirit full control. I’m not afraid of Him. I know He has my back. He will not lead me astray.
When I try to do really difficult things in my own strength I get frustrated because I can only do things with human strength. God knows all and can cut through the red tape.
I know some folks are not all in with God because they are afraid of what they may need to give up. In our culture we make up a god who is okay with our sin. We visit him once a week and talk to him often, but we can’t hear his voice because it’s a made up god that tolerates our sin.
Yielding everything to God isn’t a punishment. My fellow Believers; it’s a sign of total commitment.
When you love someone, you want to spend time with that person. You don’t want to visit them once a week and have Wednesday conversations with them. You want to visit them often and have two sided conversations with them. Is 15 minutes in the morning enough time for God and/or for you? It’s not for me. I need much more.
A deeper relationship with God requires quality time. It also costs us some thing. Just like a human relationship requires money, sacrifice and giving up what you want to do, a relationship with God will cost you all these and more.
As you go deeper into relationship with God, giving financially isn’t a burden; it’s an expression of love. As you go deeper with God, you don’t want to hang onto things that are offensive to Him. And as you go deeper with God no amount of sin is acceptable in your life. If you’re single, you remain celibate until you’re married. It goes against the grain of the world, but it’s physically and spiritually healthy for you.
Is God your first love or someone else?
The Holy Spirit wants your body and mind. Your TV/movie viewing habits affect your spiritual life. If you are continually filling your mind with programming that glorifies sex outside marriage guess how you are going to act? Like you are programmed!
If you are continually filling your mind with secular content, don’t be surprised when you look in the mirror and you look just like the world.
I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!
Jesus speaking to you! Revelation 3:15
Cold drinks and hot drinks are refreshing based on the occasion. Jesus prefers Christians to be hot or cold. Obviously he wants us to be on fire for him. The cold Christian knows they are far from God, but at least they know it and they know where to turn. The lukewarm Christian is detestable to God. Here’s what he said next:
So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.
Revelation 3:16
You may be thinking, “how can a loving God say that?” Let me respond with, because He’s a loving parent. Don’t we as loving parents, tell our children that we will punish them if they do something wrong? Of course we do! Love causes a parent to warn their child that they are on the wrong path!
Jesus said I am the way, the truth and the life.
Are you following the Way or are you following the world?
Ask Him now.
