I was looking for a new place to live and the Holy Spirit led me to a neighborhood where I could be really happy. Everything is walking distance so I can get exercise and don’t have to spend a lot of money on fuel. There are two malls, a metro station, two supermarkets, a UPS store and a vegan restaurant all in walking distance.
Then it hit me: God led me to my new home. I know it’s a temporary earthly home, but there’s another one that’s even better and it’s eternal.
In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?
John 14:2
When God does something, it’s good. Always. When we yield to the Holy Spirit, life is better. Always.
There was a popular song years back called “Always” in which the country singer told how she would love her husband always: yeah, they split. When we do things, we tend to mess things up. It’s our fallen nature. We have good intentions but we are fallen as well, so we fall.
I fail. I have good intentions, but unless I stay in the Word of God, I fail. Just saturate my mind so that I apply it to my life. James stressed this.
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves
James 1:22
It doesn’t work if it goes in one ear and out the other. I have to live it. I owe Him that. He gave everything for me so my massive sin debt could be demolished.
Not only did He pay my massive bill, He promised me more. For those of us that come to a saving knowledge of Jesus, we are blessed by the knowledge that we have a fantastic place to spend eternity surrounded by people that love us and in the presence of God himself. Heaven will be better than we can imagine. The opposite is also true. Hell will be worse than people can imagine.
How about you dear reader? Where are you heading? Do you want to hold on to your massive sin debt and depend on your righteousness?
