If you are like most of us, likely you ushered in the new year with a new year’s resolution. I already blew mine, but each new day is a new chance to get it right.
One thing I have learned (the hard way, of course) is when I try to accomplish things without including God, the likeliness of success is less. When I 100% lean on God, success is a given. He does not want me to go down certain paths so He warns me if I do. Ever had Him say no to a prayer while you were praying it? He’s God; He for certain knows what is best for me.
Leaning on the Holy Spirit looks something like this: peace or unrest. I recently wanted to relocate to a bigger apartment. I felt like I should move to one of two areas. The first area I had no peace about so I was sure it was the second area. I went looking many times in the places that made human sense. They were also not giving me peace.
I gave up trying.
It was kind of scary because I realized there was something else at work. So I prayed to God telling Him I needed His help. I asked Him to send me where He wanted me to be. He clearly told me to look at my phone. There was an apartment complex a little ways from me. I called and they met all our requirements so we visited and took the apartment.
After taking the apartment we could see God’s reasons for bringing us to this neighborhood. It really suits our needs. We would’ve missed that and settled for someplace that really didn’t meet our needs if we hadn’t looked to God for an answer. Also, there’s a lot of opportunity for a ministry here.
Giving up my own plan, and following God’s plan for my life is really good for me. A lot of the things that God wants for me or beneficial to me. I just have to let go and let God do things.
My Bible habit is good for me. It builds my faith. It comforts me. It teaches me. If you haven’t started the Bible habit this may the year to start one. It’s difficult to have a growing relationship with God without a Bible habit. You’re spiritually starving yourself. Unless you are in a persecuted country where it’s illegal to have a Bible, you should be reading every day. There may come a day when it’s illegal in your country to have a Bible.
If you are able to download from google play or the Apple App Store Through the Word app, it will bless you greatly. I use it on a daily basis.
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
Psalm 119:105
May God light your path today with His word.
