Busy busy busy

Is that me? The world thinks that is good and admirable. I realize it’s not my Christian friends. It’s far from it. It is pitiable; that should not be my goal.

but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40:31

That’s what so admirable! If I don’t have plenty of downtime in my schedule, I have to make changes today.

Waiting on God seems like a waste of my time to the world; I am not being productive. I have all these things to get done.

None of the things on my schedule matter. The only things that matter are: waiting on God and doing what he tells me to do. That’s it; everything else doesn’t.

We want to mount up with wings like eagles, run and not be weary, but Dick wants us to do this and Jane needs something else. And what Dick and Jane want us to do don’t accomplish kingdom work.

How can we change? Change is hard.

  • Set an hour long appointment with God daily. No one interferes. If someone wants us to do something that interferes with that we say no. (That includes saying no to babysitting the grandkids for a week while kids go somewhere.)
  • We evaluate everything on our schedules against kingdom value. (that includes going to the gym for an hour a day. It doesn’t matter if we are physically fit if we spiritually deprive ourselves of a meal.)
  • Exercising and listening to an audio Bible is a work around.
  • Ask ourselves honestly what’s the number one priority in our life is. (Is it people , work or God. Don’t let it be that order!)
  • Favors for friends can be friendly fire. When we are in a battle we don’t expect our friends to shoot us in the back. But when Sallie asks us to go to lunch with her and a friend to make it more comfortable for her instead of us going with a lost person that’s friendly fire. It’s taking us away from kingdom work.

We were God’s top priority when He came to this earth. He cleared his schedule and came down here and gave it all for us.

What changes will we make today?
