Spiritual warfare tool

How do you win a war against an unseen enemy? In a regular war, you can see your enemy and point a gun and shoot him. In a spiritual war you can’t see your enemy, so how do you defeat him?

Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Ephesians 6:17

The Word of God also known as the Holy Bible is the way to extinguish the fiery darts of the enemy. Recalling Biblical verses is helpful, but when the temptation gets really strong we have to fight Jesus style. Jesus used speaking the word of God to defeat the enemy. We can (and should) do the same.

In Luke chapter 4, Jesus goes into the wilderness and is tempted by the devil. Let’s look at his responses.

3The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.”4And Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone.’”

Luke 4:3-4

Man shall not live by bread alone. That’s a short verse to memorize. Use it for temptation of the flesh. The second part of that verse is but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. So you can use that for sexual temptation even. Or there’s another short one for sexual temptation: flee sexual immorality. That’s short too. Just add “it is written” before it.

Flee from sexual immorality

1 Corinthians 6:18

The new living translation says run from it! These are good battle tools. It is written flee from sexual immorality it is written run from sexual immorality. Got it? Good!

Back to Luke chapter 4.

8And Jesus answered him, “It is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God,
and him only shall you serve.’”

Luke 4:8

OK so this verse is a little bit longer but it’s still doable. This verse can be used for lusts of the eye: material or spiritual.

So you get the idea use a short verse that you can memorize and when temptation comes out loud say the verse until you have victory.

Hope this helps!
