No one likes hypocrites. Name one person who does. You can’t. Don’t let a church full of hypocrites keep YOU out of Heaven. Don’t miss Heaven because of that. They won’t be in Heaven. Hypocrites may go to a church building, but in the real church, there are no hypocrites. There’s believers only. The hypocrites aren’t true believers.
“I am told that Christians do not love each other. I am very sorry if that be true, but I rather doubt it, for I suspect that those who do not love each other are not Christians.” CHARLES SPURGEON
Jesus told the parable of the sower. Let’s look at that.
18“Hear then the parable of the sower: 19When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is what was sown along the path. 20As for what was sown on rocky ground, this is the one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy, 21yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while, and when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately he falls away.b 22As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful. 23As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.”
Matthew 13:18-23
In this passage, Jesus CLEARLY explains what a real believer is and points out the other isn’t real faith. Jesus doesn’t like hypocrites either! He wants genuine faith, good soil believers who produce real fruit.
Hypocrites won’t be in Heaven; real believers will.
Next time some one tells you they can’t become a Christian because there are hypocrites in the “church,” agree with them and let them know Jesus addressed that in Matthew 23. The whole chapter, except for a few verses at the end, he not only calls out the hypocrites, but he tells them what the result of their fake faith will be. It’s not a sermon that will preach in most churches. If a church has a cuddly Jesus is your friend that they worship, then Him calling the religious leaders snakes won’t set well with them. But it’s in there.
33You serpents, you brood of vipers, how are you to escape being sentenced to hell?
Matthew 22:33
If someone said that to ME, my jaw would drop. Jesus is the King of the universe people. He’s not the court jester. He’s the absolute ruler. When He returns, there’s not going to be any discussion about “well I think a loving God….wouldn’t this or that.” Sorry, but our mouths will be closed except to praise Him for His mercy towards us.
If someone told you that you were going to Hell, what would you do? Change in a hurry? Justify yourself? Make excuses? We do all that; the Bible says our default destination is Hell.
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23
That’s where your headed. It doesn’t matter what your religion is, what you do at church, you will go to Hell when you die unless something violent happens. That violence is new birth.
So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.’
John 3:7
Jesus Himself said that. Maybe your religion says you have to knock on doors. Jesus said you have to be born again. Maybe your religion says you have to take a trip to Mecca. Jesus said you have to be born again. Maybe your religion says you need to say certain prayers whenever you sin. Jesus said you must be born again. Maybe your religion says do lots of good works to make it to Heaven. Jesus said you must be born again. And He prefaced it with DON’T BE SURPRISED!
Repent and ask Jesus for mercy. Pray like your soul depends on it; it does.
