What are angels? Are they our helpers? Do we become angels when we pass? Are angels all around us? What is their job?
Angels are specials creations by God made before our universe was created.
“Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone – while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?”
Job 38:4-7
So the angels were worshipping God as He made everything. They do not want your worship or friendship.
but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers the prophets, and with those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.”
Revelation 22:9
They are servants of God. They are always reported as having a masculine appearance with Roman soldier like garb.
Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.
Isaiah 6:2
| Seraphim | They are in the presence of God they cover themselves with 6 wings and cry “Holy, holy, holy” |
| Cherubim | Fiery serpents who are close to God. There are only four; they have four faces and six wings. They look human when coming to Earth. |
| Thrones | Heavenly record keepers, they hold the knowledge of God. Satan was one. Look like winged sphinxes with human faces. |
| Dominions | They look like glowing wheels with eyes and dispense judgement. |
| Virtues | The worker angels that ensure everything in the universe is in order. |
| Powers | Shaped like sparks of light, they inspire and do miracles. |
| Principalities | Brightly colored hazy fumes, they patrol the border of Heaven and Earth. |
| Archangels | Shaped like rays of light but appear in human form, they guide everything from religion to towns. |
| Angels | Guardians of people and physical things. Warriors and messengers. |
So being that is what angels are, let’s discuss what are they NOT.
They are not:
- Cute little babies with wings. This is a deception. Angels are warriors.
- Deceased people – people become glorified, but they are not converted to angels upon death. People don’t “earn their wings.” It’s just not biblical.
- Friends for the living – EVERY incident in the Bible where an angel appears, there is great fear on the part of the human. If you are talking to “angels” without great fear, you are being deceived by a fallen angel – a demon. Even Lucifer is said to appear as an angel of light. Just because a heavenly being looks beautiful, it doesn’t mean that you are seeing the true appearance of that being. You will need to seek the services of a deliverance minister to break the bondage you are in.
- Hotlines for humans-never ever call on angels; the wrong side will pick up. Angels do not take your requests or commands – they are servants of God.
Your spirit guides are demons.
Stop your angel obsession; you are practicing idolatry from God’s perspective. Don’t collect angel figurines. Most angel figurines don’t look anything like an angel. Angels inspire fear when they appear. Nowhere in the Bible does an angel appear and the response is “how cute”; it’s just not there.
In conclusion, angels are great. I appreciate my guardian angel and don’t deserve him. I guess in Heaven I will thank him profusely for doing his service to God. I would not presume to communicate with him now. I pray to God and God alone.
