These days everyone is apologizing for everything that they didn’t do. Sorry not this girl. I’m not gonna apologize for people in the past because I’m not them.
History of Christianity gets a bad rap. People refer to all the murderers in the name of Christianity and as if that would justify their unbelief when they stand before a holy God; it won’t!
Let’s start with the Spanish inquisition. Many people like to point fingers at this event and say that it justifies their unbelief in Christianity. The inquisition was a horrible staying on human history, but it was done by Catholics not Christians.
Catholics are not Christians, just ask them they will tell you. “Are you Christian?” Is met with “well, I’m a Catholic.” OK, just say no! There is a huge difference between the Catholic religion and biblical Christianity. Biblical Christianity was not responsible for the Spanish inquisition, the Roman Catholic Church was. The pedophelia was all them too.
What about slavery? Well it’s likely that Christopher Columbus who was sponsored by the Catholics brought slaves over on his first voyage. The plantation farmers who bought the lion share of slaves may have had a Christian affiliation, but biblical Christians never would purchase slave because the teachings of the Bible don’t mesh with this. Read the book of Philemon!
In 1615 the Roman Inquisition sponsored again by Roman Catholics put Galileo under house arrest because of his science. He correctly proposed a heliocentric solar system and they called it heresy. Again this was done by Roman Catholics.
Are we noticing a trend? Cults mess up big time because they don’t get the Bible right!
The 1692 Salem witch trials are also blamed on Christianity. Surprisingly small number of people were killed during this only about 20, but the event lives in infamy. This also was not done by biblical Christians it was done by a Christian cult called Puritans. If a Puritan church opened up in my neighborhood not one person I know would go there. It’s extremist belief in and not in a good sense.
What Christianity and if he has done is found a lot of universities: Oxford Princeton Yale Harvard were all founded by biblical Christians to advance the gospel. Public education and kindergarten were founded by Christians.
Christian people have not been perfect, but who is. But I no longer will make apologies for what the cults have done in the name of Christianity. I don’t accept Catholics as Christians because of their idolatry and witchcraft. Show me a Catholic that doesn’t practice that and I’ll change my mind.
