I was a Girl Scout: a brownie, a junior and a cadet. We would start off our meetings with this pledge. Even I still don’t know what the Girl Scout law is but I said these words over and over again Why?

It’s really easy to program children. Just tell them what to believe in that believe it. Hopefully you’re telling them something good, but these days that’s not always the case!
What this pledge was instilling in me was that there was a God. I didn’t know him, but I was pledging to serve him. Something else the Girl Scouts did teach me was to be prepared.
I loved Girl Scouts, but our leader quit so my mom volunteered to be the leader. She worked a really tough factory job and then came home exhausted, but made sure we all had fun in Girl Scouts.
I will probably look up what is the Girl Scout law, but I also want to talk about pledging yourself to a cause. We have to be careful what we pledge our devotion to.
Music is a powerful medium and many of us pledge our allegiance unknowingly through music. We sing words that we don’t really understand. Nor do we grasp how our words have consequences. What we bind here on earth is bound in heaven.
Be careful what you sing and let into your soul through your ear gates. If you claim to be a Jesus follower then your ear gates should not be open to all types of secular music. Many have overt and hidden messages in them. Demons can gain access through your ear gates just by listening to music, scary isn’t it? That’s why it’s so imperative that we use discernment given to us by God when listening to music.
5For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue,e and virtue with knowledge, 6and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, 7and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love.8For if these qualitiesf are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Peter 1:5-8
We, as Christ followers, owe our allegiance to God and not the world. Let’s be friends with Him!
