Making changes for the new year

As I ponder what changes I want to make in the new year, I have come up with a list. I want to share them with you all for some accountability. I have made a lot of progress spiritually and in a lot of ways and I would like to continue the momentum.

Read the Bible through in a year. I’ve been on a two-year plan in the last two years, but I want to step up my game in 2023. I’ve selected a one year chronological plan from blueletterbible.org. It’s about 3 chapters a day and it’s very doable.

Begin memorization of the book of John. I don’t know if I can do this lofty goal, but I was hoping I could memorize one chapter per month. We will see how that goes for me.

Spend four hours per week spreading the gospel. I probably do this already, but I want to keep this in there for the coming year. If Jonas Salk had kept the cure for polio all to himself, the world would look a lot different. Thankfully he shared his cure. Well, I have the cure for spiritual maladies and I want to share the cure!

Have get togethers with my neighbors. I want them to both hear the gospel and become connected to them. I intend to do at least one per quarter.

Not all my goals are of a spiritual nature, some are personal. I really don’t wish to share a lot about those on here, but I will share a little.

Schedule time for nothing. I want to paint a little, crochet a little, sew some and read a little. I can’t do those if I am all booked up with work, ministry and other things.

Do a purge of unused things. If I haven’t used something in the last 2 years, I’m unlikely to ever use it again, so it’s going to the Salvation Army. I don’t do Goodwill because of its greedy management practices.

Schedule a vacation. I didn’t really take one last year and I feel like I missed out. I definitely want to do a road trip or even a flight in 2023. Where should I go?

Write letters. In this fast paced technology world, everyone is all about texting and emails. Maybe I am showing my age, but letters are a permanent reminder that someone took the time to think about you. Ponder on that millennials!

So what’s on your agenda for the coming year? Please let me know in the comments!
