It’s the fight of the century for you. Two sides that are engaged in the battle, but the fight is rigged. I know who should win! It’s a sure thing. And the winner is – the Holy Ghost! Christian if you’re struggling with the same sins that you struggled with last year, it’s not a good sign. Last year’s struggles should be this year’s victories.
Our earthly flesh suits that we were born with sometimes trip us up. We want the sex, the smokes, the booze, the cake or we just want to badmouth someone. Right?
What makes it worse is we keep these flesh suits until we are done with this life. We can cave into their desires, but if we sow to the flesh, we are hostile to God.
The problem is our flesh is an evil taskmaster and it’s never satisfied. It always wants one more whatever sin you are battling! When you sow to the flesh you spiritually die. With spiritual death you end up numb and your soul is not satisfied. The flesh is a liar; it promises peace which can only be found in Jesus!
5Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh; but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. 6The mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace, 7because the mind of the flesh is hostile to God: It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.8Those controlled by the fleshd cannot please God.
Romans 8
We can ask the Holy Spirit by faith to help us live by the spirit. Our spirit has supernatural power. It’s the same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead you can cry out Abba Father help me; help me to live by the Spirit. We do not need to stay stuck in secret sin. We should not!
9You, however, are controlled not by the flesh, but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. 10But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is aliveebecause of righteousness. 11And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the deadf will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you.
Romans 8
We also have God’s word- the Bible- to use as a weapon. It is a sword spiritually to fight the enemy. Use it the same way Jesus did! He spoke it out loud saying it is written and then He quoted a Bible verse. If Jesus did this, how much more do we need to do it? Memorize some verses to help you battle the enemy. Post them on the wall of your home until they are part of your thinking.
When you crucify your flesh and live holy, it becomes easier to live a holy life. Just like physical training is hard at first, so is spiritual training. But it gets easier! Your spiritual muscles get stronger! Don’t neglect to ask for prayer from your spiritual family when you are struggling with things.
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Acts 1:8
Victory is yours Christian. You are the head and not the tail. You are a conqueror through He who gave all for you!
