1977- California here we come!

Some of you reading this post probably weren’t around in 1977. I was it was a great year for me. 1977 had cool cars and cool music. The clothes and jewelry from that time period are memorable. So was that trip!

My mama got this idea to drive from our home in New York to visit her brother’s family in California. That trip changed my destiny.

We didn’t head out alone though. Our favorite family came too: Richard, Sandy, Jet, Rick, Julie, Mary , and their grandma my great aunt Margaret came. They were in their camper and we were in a dark orange van with yellow and orange shag carpeting inside. We had 3 tents Ma bought from work plus their camper to sleep in.

You can’t imagine how exciting it was for a small town girl to head out on a adventure to place she only saw it on TV. I don’t remember packing for it. Probably my mother did that. I do remember having a steno pad for a diary and a 110 Instamatic camera. I still have some photos from that camera and the record of that trip in the steno pad.

The photos in the steno pad record the journey from campsite to campsite how we camped our way across the United States and back again. It journals the details of the trip what we saw and who we saw it’s a very reliable record because it’s the first hand account of the trip, it’s from a different perspective though because the pictures were taken by a 15-year-old, and the account was written by a 15 year old. It’s still a first hand account though, so it is reliable. It’s not like I told my children about the trip and then they told their children about the trip, and that their children are telling you about the trip. The record is written by me the person who experienced the trip.

When I wrote about seeing some thing at universal studios, I actually saw it. When I wrote about something you can trust that I saw it because it’s a first hand account. First hand accounts are more reliable than secondhand accounts.

The people who wrote the New Testament were eyewitnesses to everything that Jesus did. Jesus stood in front of them. Personally He talked with them. He walked with them. He ate with them, God visited this earth and visited with people. They recorded the events as first hand accounts.

You can trust the Bible.

It’s not like the Quran, which was the words of Mohammed, written by somebody else, because he couldn’t write himself. The people who wrote the Bible lived it. They experienced personally whatever they wrote about.

Remember that family we traveled with in 1977? I can tell you about each one of them because I spent not hundreds but thousands of hours with each of them. I can tell you where Richard worked, and about how it was my joy to lead him to the Lord before he passed. I can tell you how Sandy was a faithful friend to my mother and was down for everything my mama wanted to accomplish! Jet was one of my closest childhood friends so I can talk about how amazing she is for hours. Rick said he was going to teach me to drive stick shift, but didn’t teach me. He just handed me his keys and said take it around the block. I’m sure Julie remembers playing tennis with me and being super silly about it. Everyone who meets Mary loves her. Margaret was my favorite person from my childhood. She taught me how to do embroidery, knit from a spool and tat.

Those are true stories from my life. If 2000 years pass, those will still be true stories because time doesn’t change the truth.

The word of God is true. It’s just as true today as it was 2000 years ago.

Churches make mistakes in their doctrine, but the Bible never changes. You can trust it. The Mormons will tell you a crazy story about some gold plates that were used to print the book of Mormon, but yet where are those gold plates? They’re nowhere to be found and the cities in the book of Mormon there’s absolutely no historical record of them.

The Roman Catholic Church is so polluted it doesn’t look like the Bible at all. They read from the Bible and they sing about people in the Bible, but to a person who practices biblical Christianity, Roman Catholicism looks crazy. It contradicts the Bible all the time Jesus said, call no man father, but yet they do. They pray to people who are dead, which is necromancy, which is forbidden in the Bible.

Churches get it wrong, but Jesus never fails.

Trust Him. Read His word for yourself.

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,

2 Timothy 3:16

If you have not yet, asked Jesus to forgive your sins, and to be lord of your life, what’s stopping you?? He’s got a lot of good for you if you turn to him. Dear friends, that I haven’t yet met Jesus is going to be your best friend. I pray that everyone who reads this will come to receiving knowledge of Jesus today.
