Religion is a popular hobby for many people, but few people have a saving relationship with God. Here’s how you can tell that you have a saving relationship with God.
- You love Him intensely. You can’t stop talking about him. Even people will mention it to you. “ Why is everything always about him?”
- You are intentional in your relationship with God. You schedule time for prayer and Bible reading. You don’t miss it for anything. Same goes for church. You put church before social and family events. Being with spiritual family is the most important priority to you. TV church isn’t enough for you because you can’t hug your spiritual family over the TV.
- You know there is only one path to God because Jesus said it. Some religions hold that Jesus was just a prophet, but Jesus said I am the way the truth, and the life of no man comes to the Father, except by me. If he was a prophet, then why aren’t you listening to his words and taking actions about his warning?
- You see Galatians 5:22-23 fruit; love, Joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, goodness and self-control. You look more like Jesus every year; if you don’t, that’s a warning sign.
- You are concerned for lost people. The great evangelist Charles Spurgeon once said if you’re not concerned for the salvation of others, you are not saved yourself.
- You give money to missions. You put your money where your mouth is. Do you want other people to know Jesus or not? If you do, your bank account shows it!
- You can’t tolerate most of secular TV, film, music, and you don’t want to be in the environment that has it.
- You don’t tolerate swearing or using God’s name in vain.
- You can’t tolerate sin in your own life! You do what it takes to not be in sin. You live a holy life because it’s pleasing to God.
- You worship just because you love Him. You don’t wait until Sunday.
- You hear from God. The Holy Spirit talks to you.
- Your prayers are answered because they are in line with God’s will. They’re not selfish prayers.
- You see a difference in your faith level. You pray for bigger things, because your faith level increased.
If you see yourself in any of those, go to God with a repentant heart, and ask him to forgive you. Start living for him and do it with others; lone ranger Christians are Christians who will get sucked into false religion. You get sucked into Islam and New Age and Mormonism and Jehovah witness you’re OK with Catholicism because it doesn’t require anything outside of church attendance.
When we are born into this world, our default destination is hell. The God provided a rescue plan in Jesus Christ latch onto him today and you won’t regret it.
