Grudges?

Are you holding a grudge? About?

Grudges we all get them. If we’ve been alive, somebody has hurt us. It’s part of life to get hurt, but it’s up to us whether we choose to hang onto that hurt or get rid of it.

Hanging onto grudges will kill you spiritually. I’ve had them. I’m not talking about small hurts. I’ve had big hurts. I’ve suffered things that no child should ever have to suffer. Abusers are funny people. They hurt you, yet they act mad at you.

Hurt people try all kinds of things to get rid of the hurt: sex, drugs, alcohol, and religion. I tried a few of those but didn’t work.

When you come into a real relationship with Christ, everything changes. If you can hold onto a grudge, you’ve not been born again. Once you’re born again, everything changes.

When you were born the first time, it’s a violent thing. There’s contractions, and there’s pain, but someone new was born.

When you are born again, it’s also violent. There is a reckoning that happens. The old dies, and the new comes. You can never be the same. You can’t hold grudges anymore because you have realized how much you’ve been forgiven by God so you forgive.

So the answer is no. I pray for my abuser that she would come to a saving knowledge of you. I pray for her husband to come to a saving knowledge of you. I pray for her children to come to a saving knowledge of you. I pray That she escapes eternal damnation.

I don’t hold a grudge against her. I feel sorrow at what awaits her if she doesn’t repent. God, please work in her life to bring her to repentance.

And that is the power of the gospel. It can change hearts. Has your heart changed yet?
