What historical event fascinates you the most?
God did some amazing things in history:
- Creation of the universe
- Sending Jesus
- Allowing Jesus to pay the price for our sins
- The resurrection of Jesus
I ponder all these events often and wonder how and why.
I don’t see a conflict between Big Bang and Creation. Greg Koukl talks about this in detail in his book I still don’t have enough faith to be an atheist. If you’ve not read it, I totally recommend it. The evidence for an intelligent designer is overwhelming and irrefutable in my opinion. But what keeps me fascinated is the details about it: expanding universe, radiation afterglow, etc. if you’re like me, you want to read the book.
Then I wonder why would the king of the universe come as a flesh baby? We know it’s historical because they found on the Ark the covenant blood with 24 chromosomes. That’s actually what you would expect from a person who didn’t have an earthly father. Most people get 23 chromosomes from their mother and 23 chromosomes from their father. The ark was found under Jerusalem, and they theorize that it got there from the crucifixion cause Jesus shed had a great deal of blood on Calvary. What’s interesting is the blood was found on the Mercy seat. That’s right where the blood of a sacrifice should go.
Why would he give himself for our sins? I know I didn’t deserve it. Probably you feel the same way. I hope you’ve humbled yourself to the point where you’ve allowed Jesus to pay the price for your sins. That’s why he came. But still the question of why he would do that boggles my mind.
The resurrection of Jesus was witnessed by over 500 people, but some people still don’t believe it. Yet they’ll believe things with a lot less witnesses. According to Harvard University, there were 56 delegates at the signing of the declaration of independence. That’s not very many compared to over 500. Actually now that I’m thinking about this, it was over 500 because the Bible says he appeared to over 500 at one time plus then all the other people that saw him.
So I can’t really pick a single event because they all just boggle my mind.
