Invent a holiday! Explain how and why everyone should celebrate.

We have a lot of holidays already but let’s take a look at the word holiday. It’s a compound word of holy day. So it should be a religious event. Some federal holidays don’t have religious roots. They’re just patriotic days. Some give glory to specific people or groups of people. I don’t want my holiday to do that.

Introducing national repentance day. Everybody has the day off to read the Bible with a repentant heart, seeking to change who they are to match God‘s word. I know some people are not going to want to celebrate this. This holiday you can’t go to a restaurant, the movie theater, or a sporting event. This is stay home and read the Bible.

For those who need intensive care on this day, gatherings for Bible study are permitted. Sometimes people are in need of other people to tell them “Hey that’s not what the Bible says. you need to repent brother.”

What does the word repent mean?

So it means we need to change; we know this intuitively. We read the Bible and we focus on the words in red and in the New Testament. We ask God to change us because we can’t do it on our own. The Holy Spirit needs to do his work to change us and we know that he will if we are willing.

There’s not going to be a big menu for this holiday. It’s Jesus you and a glass of water or tea. Coffee is permitted but without creamer or sugar.
