What am I thinking about on my birthday? It’s not cake. Although I’m probably going to eat a piece of cake and my son is taking me out to lunch and a Christian movie because I don’t watch secular movies. I’m thinking about Jesus of course because he’s forgiven me so much. And then he started a transformative work in me praise God. This verse here sums it up.
3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.
Isaiah 61:3
Those who are in Christ this is what you’ve been given the ashes of your life before Christ he’s made into a beauty. Who you are now is more beautiful than your life before Christ. He’s not done yet. He’s promised to make you into the image of his dear son, and to complete it. Mourning is not for you. The oil of joy is for you the Holy Spirit brings rivers of joy when you walk in obedience to Christ. Maybe you used to be a drinker to drown out your sorrows now what is he put on your lips? He’s put on them a spirit of praise. Because we’re grateful aren’t we? And he’s promised to make you a tree of righteousness.
Pray this prayer: thank you Lord, for making who I am beautiful and for giving me the oil of joy and the garment of praise and making me into a tree of righteousness! Amen!
