Let me count

What is good about having a pet?

Having a pet teaches you many things! Pets model things for us. The relationship between our pet is close and personal like our relationship with God should be. Many people go to church and call Jesus Lord, but their hearts are far from them, and they are in danger of being left behind.

  • Dependence. They depend on God for each meal. We don’t; we depend on ourselves. Even saying a blessing over the food is not even in some people’s minds. The homeless are better about this. They will give whatever money they have on them to somebody else who is hungry because they know that God will give them their next meal.
  • Obedience. Dogs are really obedient to their master. Even cats are to a degree. They’ve learned to trust the master’s voice. So why don’t we? Why don’t I?
  • Love. They just want pets sometimes. they’ve already been fed. They have water. Their bathroom needs have been taken care of. They just want you. So that’s a good model for how I should be how we should be wit our Father.
  • Cures empty houses. A pet makes a house feel more like a home. The Holy Spirit lives inside of those of us who are believers. He makes his home in us, so we’re never alone. Loneliness isn’t a thing because we always have our best friend. He walks with us. He talks with us, and he tells us we are his own.

If you have a pet, you know what I’m talking about. They are amazing, but not as amazing as having the Holy Spirit.

If you don’t have a pet, stop judging those of us who do. Pet owners have a capacity to unconditionally love someone they didn’t birth. We all should have that capacity.
