What’s something most people don’t understand?

God gave us a roadmap on how to find God. He told us our problem and He gave us a way to solve it.

1. How to find God. You won’t find God in the places you would expect. It’s not in church although going to church is good if you get a good one. He said we would find him when we hungered for righteousness, when we mourned, when we were poor in spirit. See Matthew chapter 5. Are you poor in spirit? Do you have a humble and contrite heart? Are you dependent on God? Do you hunger and thirst for righteousness?

2. Our problem is sin. We were born that way, but Jesus said that we needed to be born again. He said that in John 3 to Nicodemus and repeated it to him. When you repeat something it means you really mean it. Most folks think they are basically good people because they don’t compare themselves to the right standard, which is Jesus. He never lied or dishonored his parents or used God’s name as a cuss word. All of us during the course of our lives have accumulated a massive sin debt and we still think we are good people. It’s funny even people in the act of sin will say they are good. You are the same as everyone else. You are not righteous on your own or by a religion you practice.

3. There’s only one way for me to solve my problem of sin. And the answer is the same for you too. You can’t pray away your sin and doing is deeds doesn’t cancel out your sins. Jesus came to this earth. He was God in human form to solve your problem. Himself. he gave himself as a sacrifice for your sin. If you believe in your heart to God raise Jesus from the dead, and confess it with your mouth you will be saved.

¹⁶ For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. ¹⁷ For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

John 3

Turn to Jesus today, and he will give you a new heart and his Holy Spirit in you.

Does that mean we can continue in our sin?? No! When we have the Holy Spirit, he gives us the power to overcome sin and live in a way that pleases Him.

Trust in Jesus- He is the only way to God!
