What are your morning rituals? What does the first hour of your day look like?
To start my day off well I read the Bible. It’s food for my spirit. I don’t forget to eat, so why should I forget to read my Bible?
Reading the Bible helps. It keeps me from doubting God’s faithfulness to me. It helps me to live in a way that pleases him. I used to not do that in my life reflected it. A real Christian wants to obey God. It teaches me how to live a surrendered life.
The surrendered Christian life is one that looks different from most people’s lives. Obviously, we still pay our taxes, but the Lord doesn’t allow us to “fudge” on them. We have to be honest. We give to the Lord of our time and money. Where do we learn to do this? From the Bible.
The Bible also teaches us what to pray for. I asked God for discernment, and I didn’t realize what I’d find at the other end of the prayer. I was at the theater this week watching the chosen, season four and struck a conversation with another Christian lady. She didn’t like how the chosen had a human person playing the part of Jesus. I wonder who she would cast for the part. So I asked her what she was there to see and it was kung fu panda. Clearly this movie has the underlying eastern religion agenda. I saw the first one and I regret it.
I don’t watch modern day secular movies. There’s always something wrong with them. Either there is cursing, sex, or violence. I don’t want that for my life and I don’t want to support it with my money. It’s why I don’t have a Netflix subscription. What about kids movies? Very few of them are OK. Disney pushes witchcraft and homosexuality nowadays.
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Philippians 4:8
Yes, coffee and Bible. That’s the way to start my day.
