Self Care What?

Narcissistic theology says stuff like that. It says the author is unknown but we know where that came from.

God wants us to take care of our temples so that we can be his hands and feet, but this crosses the line.

You may see nonsense like this. Normally I would skip over stuff I don’t agree with, but this time I could not. When a church leader is promoting this kind of self-centered lifestyle, the sheep are following and doing the same.

Any philosophy that puts you at the top and center should raise a big, red flag. It is the same strategy from Genesis chapter 3 that Satan used with Eve. That didn’t work out well for us then, ladies!

Our spiritual radar needs to be working at all times or we fall for stuff like this. We’re gullible. So how do we not fall for it?

  • We stay in the word of God. Psalm 119:11 “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”
  • Pray for the spiritual gift of discernment. First Corinthians 14:1 says we should eagerly desire the gifts of the spirit.
  • Be careful who you let in your inner circle of friends. We need to socialize with non-Christians in order to meet their needs and win them to the Lord, but that group of people you trust implicitly should be like minded believers.

I will still take self care days because I have physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, but first at the top of my list every day should be God – not me!

I’m a child of God who has found joy and peace in Jesus, the King of the universe. He alone is worthy of all praise and glory. I’m a bivocational pastor and vegan who crochets and talks all things Jesus.
