As a Christian, I should be looking a lot like Jesus. What did He look like?
- He spent time at the synagogue.
- He served others.
- He spent a lot of time with the Father in prayer.
- He spent a lot of time with other believers.
- He spent time with unbelievers.
- He loved people.
I’m so tired of hearing people say they don’t need to belong to a church. Jesus hung with believers and we should too. If I don’t, I’m probably going to fall into sin and neglect prayer and Bible study.
Part of being in a church fellowship is serving others. There are many different parts in the body and we all serve a different function. Some serve by playing the piano and singing, and some serve by making coffee or watching children in the nursery. Everyone is important as they serve the body.
Jesus was in the beginning and He has authority to call His bride home, defeat Satan, and judge the world. Yet He did the job of a household servant and wrapped a towel around His waist and washed people’s feet.
Jesus just went off to pray by Himself. Prayer is sending your requests and adoration to Heaven. If Jesus thought it was important, I probably should too.
A lot of people are hurting and they’re looking for something to fill the void, and Jesus wants to be that One that fills the void.
People are all we can take to Heaven. 1 Corinthians 13 applies. Being patient, kind and gentle is not just good for others; it helps me too. Jesus is there for us when we go through trials, so when others need me, I should be quick to help.
If I am in Christ, I ought to be as a mirror. I either reflect Him, or I don’t. I don’t care if I am fat or wrinkled, but I do care if I don’t look like Jesus. He radiated love wherever He went.
Lord, help me to look like You.
