Duped

Ever been duped? Did you feel silly about being duped? Or did you feel angry? If I’m being honest, I have felt both! People who trick others generally do not have other peoples’ best intentions in mind. They do it with intention to harm. On occasion they do it unintentionally, but for the most part it’s intentional.

One of the biggest dupes on the planet is the Roman Catholic Church. Catholic does not mean Christian. If you ask most Catholics are you a Christian they’ll say “well I’m Catholic.” That’s a no. Just say no.

Here’s why Catholics are duped:

  • Catholicism is works based as opposed to faith based. Saying rosaries, lighting candles and last rights are all futile behaviors. These behaviors don’t get you closer to God. Repentance and trusting in Jesus to forgive your sins does.
  • Catholicism has idolatry built into it with Mary worship and Saint worship.
  • Catholicism has spiritual fathers which Jesus expressed a distain for. Jesus said, don’t call anyone father except your father in heaven.
  • Catholicism contains extra biblical doctrines such as purgatory. Catholics believe if they’re not good enough in this life they can make up for it in purgatory. Is so evil to give a whole group of people a false hope that they’re OK and they’re going to make it to heaven. They don’t have to live for Jesus right now they don’t have to be born again.
  • Catholicism doesn’t include a born-again experience. Jesus said you must be born again.
  • Catholics aren’t grounded in the word of God. If they were they would see the discrepancies between the Bible and Catholicism.
  • Catholicism accumulates wealth. True Christianity gives it away. There are far too many people who have needs that need to be met to hoard money.
  • Catholics believe church is a place you go to; Christians know that they are the church.
  • There’s only one mediator between God and man and that is: Jesus Christ.
  • Transubstantiation – it’s just weird.

I don’t think the real Christian can stay Catholic. Once a person is born again the spirit starts the sanctification process and teaches them believer many things.

And call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven.

Matthew 23:7

If you call some Father Smith (Chris, Jones, whatever the name) or Holy Father, you are disobeying Jesus!

For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

1 Timothy 2:5

When you pray to Mary or other Saints you are communicating with dead people. That is spiritism and it is a gross sin in God’s sight. dictionary.com defines spiritualism as:

the belief or doctrine that the spirits of the dead, surviving after the mortal life, can and do communicate with the living, especially through a person (a medium) particularly susceptible to their influence.

When you light a candle to a saint that’s when it crosses over to necromancy and is forbidden.

“If a person turns to mediums and necromancers, whoring after them, I will set my face against that person and will cut him off from among his people.”

Leviticus 20:6

And….

There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you.

Deuteronomy 18:10-12

There’s more, but you get the idea. Mary was a person who gave birth to Jesus but she called him her savior because she wasn’t holy and needed a savior. To make her into something more than a person is idolatry and against the 1st and 2nd commandments.

Not so fun fact: Catholic did you know that the Catholic Bible re-wrote the 10 Commandments to exclude one that ALL Catholics break! Look up the 10 Commandments in another Bible. Download the blue letter Bible app or the Bible Hub app on your smartphone and you’ll see.

When the Holy Spirit whispers things to us we learn truth. God cannot lie. As we read the Bible and pray God gives us supernatural nuggets of wisdom to act on. God’s Word says to be doers of the Word.

The further a person investigates God’s Word, the more he or she realizes that Catholicism is churchianity and not Christianity. It’s a counterfeit of Christianity. Gives people a more palatable version of Christianity. In Catholicism you don’t have to change you can look just like the world and you do.

Catholics, I say this in love: you look like the world because you are the world. On Saturday night what do you do? If you party like the world, sin without remorse because you can ask for forgiveness, and talk and act like the world that is not a saving faith. Wearing a crucifix and saying the rosary doesn’t wash away our sins. Only the blood of Jesus can wash away our sins IF we are truly repentant.

As the day of our Lord approaches, we see the signs in the Bible coming to pass. If we ignore the signs and don’t get right God we’re like the foolish person who prepares our tax returns the weekend before they are due. Catholic now is the time to seek God with your whole heart. When you seek him with your whole heart you will find him.

I’m a child of God who has found joy and peace in Jesus, the King of the universe. He alone is worthy of all praise and glory. I’m a bivocational pastor and vegan who crochets and talks all things Jesus.
