Gathering together

The Bible knows nothing of solitary religion.

John Wesley

It’s pleasant to be part of the family of God. It’s a God-ordained family and God gives good gifts. Your brothers and sisters in Christ are presents for you. This Holy family is designed to strengthen you, teach you and love you. Real unity is like the dew in the mountains.

Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!

Psalm 133:1

We need each other.

If you are not in church regularly you are in disobedience. You’ve got spiritual gifts that you need to use for the edification of the church. How can you use your gift of encouragement or prophecy in your bed or in front of your TV? You can’t.

The church is a place for belonging and belonging is a basic human need; we long to belong.

Skip Heitzig, pastor Calvary Chapel Albuquerque

There is no perfect church and if you joined it it would no longer be perfect! Our imperfections are what make us unique. That doesn’t mean that you throw away church.

The spirit of offense is on the loose in the world and unfortunately in the church too. He said that or she said this and you’re wounded up like a cuckoo clock. Don’t be like that. If you’re crucified with Christ it means you’re dead to your right to be offended.

Aim to be immune to being offended. Pray instead of react. Get yourself back in church and busy serving however you can.

If you’re running around criticizing the bride of Christ, what is the bridegroom going to say to YOU? He’s going to say you are the problem!

Maybe you don’t think it’s fair at your church? Life isn’t fair. Maybe God is trying to teach you submission so he can elevate you.

For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.

Galatians 5:13

Serve in love. The Greek is ἀγάπης which is agape. Serve with God’s kind of love. Ask your church leaders how you can help them and pray for them with the Father’s kind of love.

I’m a child of God who has found joy and peace in Jesus, the King of the universe. He alone is worthy of all praise and glory. I’m a bivocational pastor and vegan who crochets and talks all things Jesus.
