What does it mean when they say that jesus is the firstborn? Some cults mess it up saying he wasn’t divine – that he was just the first born of God’s created beings. Scripture doesn’t support that.
29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorifiedRomans 8:29-30
To enter into the family of God, you have to be born again. Your old man dies and your new spirit, man lives. Jesus died and took his life up again. So he was the first born in the family of God. All of us who came after him are added to the number in the family of God.
Both Genesis one and John chapter one and many other chapters tell us that God the Son was at the beginning of time with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. The Son wasn’t a separate creation.
People who do not understand the trinity think that we have three gods. We are monotheistic, because although He’s three persons, He’s one God.
So when the bible calls jesus, the first born, it’s the first born into a family of born again believers.
